The French beauty – Sofia Boutella turns into the princess awakening after thousands of years buried under the ancient tomb, wrapping rags round herself and chasing to kill Tom Cruise in the new blockbuster film – The Mummy.

The first trailer of The Mummy was published on December 04, 2016, starting with the scene of Tom Cruise in the uniform sitting on a military plane. Immediately after that, the plane crashed into a forest. He woke up after the accident and unexpectedly encountered the monster – the mummy of the princess Ahmanet (Sofia Boutella).

Soon after, the princess Ahmanet woke up with the rags wrapped on herself. With black- nailed hands, she used magic to bring down many streets. She chased to kill Tom Cruise and his companions. Tom Cruise must race against time to defeat the mummy and pushed her back the ancient tomb.

The Mummy is the latest film about the Egyptian mummy. This is the legendary monster of Hollywood, born in the work of the same name in 1932 and played by Boris Karloff. In The Mummy, this is the first time an actress has played the mummy. The action adventure story is directed by Alex Kurtzman. He co-produces with Chris Morgan. The work shows more scenes with high techniques.

The Egyptian mummy is also the latest role of Sofia Boutella, after the roles in the blockbuster films including Star Trek Beyond (2016), Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015), Monsters: Dark Continent (2014) and StreetDance 2 (2012). Besides Sofia Boutella and Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe appears as the eccentric doctor – Dr. Jekyll. This character will become the leading role in the next part. Jake Johnson and Courtney B. Vance plays the secondary role.

The Mummy is the second film in the cinematic universe about monster of Universal – after Dracula Untold in 2014. The film shows that Universal follows the strategy of Marvel – making many films on the same topic (monsters) and they are related. The monsters are expected to be on screen in the next years including the vampire hunter Van Helsing, the monster Frankenstein, The Invisible Man and The Wolf Man.

The Mummy will be released on June 9, 2017.
